New Balance Commercial Animation

This is the first animation I ever made in Cinema 4D. I purposely simplified everything so I could focus on learning how to animate things in C4D.

The idea was that New Balance and it's competitors had a race to see who was the best. Halfway through the race NB's competitors gain a lead which causes NB to push harder. Doing so caused NB to become a speeding ball of fire, thus leaving its competitors far behind.

Getting the fire to work was defiantly the hardest part of creating this. I did not use After Effects, everything was made in Cinema 4D. And it took almost a whole day to render. Overall I enjoyed learning how to animate things in C4D and plan to do more in the future.

Product Design

Here is another project I did for my portfolio. We had to take an existing product and redesign it. Originally I was doing a wine, but I found this awesome bottle in my creek next to my house so it was changed to a whiskey.

As some of you know I'm against drinking, so I almost didn't do it. I figured one day I might have to do something I don't quite want to, so it would be a good experience. I'm glad I went ahead and did it, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, especially for making it in a very short amount of time.

By the way, that is not whiskey inside, it is coffee and a lot of water. And this isn't the only bottle that's been found in my creek next to my house. I have a bunch of old ink wells and oddly shaped bottles, not sure where they came from but I hope I get to use them for other projects sometime.

Music Campaign

This was one of my favorite projects I got to work on, the music campaign. We had complete freedom with this project and could pick any band/artist that we wanted. I wanted to pick a band that I knew would actually use the stuff I made instead of a band that isn't around anymore, most of the bands I listen to are 90's Hardcore bands. After talking to a few bands, I choose to do Corpus Christi because I know the guitarist Jarrod and I was really familiar with their music.

Originally the woman and skull were vector but I later changed them to the photos you see now. The hair was scanned in from a wig I found in my closet,  glad I didn't throw it away. My idea was that the band came out with a CD and a live CD in a digipack. I had to design a the CD art, website, poster, itunes ad, two banner ads and 5 promotional pieces which I choose to do a hoodie, magazine ad, boards, stage banner and cab faces and an iPhone/iTouch app.

Hoodie

I choose to do a Hoodie design because I wanted to give them something rather than a typical t-shirt. Many metal bands use black colored shirts so I felt by having the hoodie white, they are already separating themselves from the rest.

Boards

I choose to do boards because I thought they would be a cool and unique way to promote the band. The band could sponsor boarders which would help create a buzz about the band. The boards that I used were, skateboard, snowboard, skis, wake board and surfboard.

Magazine Ad

I choose to do a ad for a zine because I felt it would be a great way to help the band get its name out there. With a zine ad the band could reach new people by using the ad in different zines. This will also help increase album sales. The ad was created to only take up have a page.

Stage Banner and Cab Face's

I chose to do a stage design to give them a wow factor when people saw them play. With having the art on the cabs and banner behind the drums people could easily recognize who they are seeing. The photos came from another bands stage pictures which I then photoshopped Corpus Christi's stuff into it.

iPhone/iTouch App

I chose to do an app because I have yet to see a band do one and I thought it would be a great way to promote a band. By having an app they can keep fans up to date and get on a more personal level
with them.

Typeface Design

Another one of my first year projects was a typeface design, which was another first for me. The typeface was designed to be used for headers and such, not body text. Eventually I plan on making this a working font, but there are a few things I plan on changing once I find the time. I defiantly enjoyed creating this typeface and can't wait to create more.

3D Illustration

This was a project that I did in my first year of school and was created in Cinema 4D. The first part of the project we had to do a rough drawling of our idea and then the second part was to create it. This was also the first time I ever made something in Cinema 4D. I do not remember how many hours I put into making it, but it was a lot. I choose to do a jukebox because I thought it would be extremely fun and challenging, which it was!

This is a remake of the original, it was picked as one of my projects to show what I did my first year. We had to make any changes that we felt would make it better than before. I did not touch the jukebox when making the changes, all the changes were done to the seating and overall look of the inside of the diner.

The Coca Cola poster, Rexall drugs building behind the window, menus and Elvis photo are pictures. If you look closely you can see that I photoshopped a signature and xoxo onto the Elvis picture. Everything else I made in Cinema 4D. I did tweak almost every material that I used and some, like the neon, was made from scratch with the help of my instructor.

Corporate Website

I decided to make a blog because I wanted people to easily find my work and be able to share it with others. I also have my own website which is currently in the works. I'd love to hear any feedback even if it's negative. I'm pretty busy right now but my goal is to post something once a week.

My first project that was stamped off for portfolio, we had to redesign a website and give it a corporate feel. I choose to do Crown Cases because they make a great durable product and are completely customizable. Some of the problems that their site has are useless pages, confusing navigation and unappealing design. With my design I wanted to simplify everything so that customers can easily find the content they are looking for and give them something that was easy on the eyes. Below are my designs for a home and two inner pages, enjoy.
